Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) troops from the 300th Brigade successfully eliminated a Hezbollah terrorist cell in southern Lebanon overnight, the military announced early Sunday morning.
According to the IDF statement, forces identified the cell – consisting of several operatives – entering a building in a Christian village near the border. The troops directed an Israeli Air Force fighter jet, which carried out a precise strike on the structure, neutralizing the entire group.
The operation comes as part of ongoing efforts to degrade Hezbollah’s capabilities and prevent further attacks on northern Israeli communities. Hezbollah has intensified rocket barrages and attempted infiltrations in recent days, coordinating with Iranian missile launches amid the broader regional conflict that began with Operation Roaring Lion on February 28.Military sources emphasized that the strike targeted a known Hezbollah infrastructure site used for staging and coordination. No Israeli casualties were reported in the incident.
The elimination follows repeated IDF warnings to the Lebanese government that failure to disarm Hezbollah and prevent attacks from its territory would lead to expanded Israeli defensive measures, including deeper ground operations in southern Lebanon.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in recent statements, reiterated Israel’s resolve: “We will not allow Hezbollah to continue threatening our citizens. If the Lebanese state does not act, we will take the necessary steps to protect our people.
“The northern front has seen significant escalation since Hezbollah joined the conflict in solidarity with Iran. Over the past two weeks, thousands of rockets have been fired toward Israel, triggering widespread shelter alerts from Metula in the north to Eilat in the south. The Home Front Command continues to maintain heightened readiness, with schools and large gatherings restricted in many areas.
As the multi-front war enters its third week, Israel continues joint operations with the United States under Operation Roaring Lion and Operation Epic Fury, targeting Iranian military and nuclear-related sites. Iranian retaliatory missile strikes have caused damage in central and southern Israel, though most projectiles have been intercepted by multilayered defense systems.
