Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu publicly criticized the Trump administration after the White House announced the membership of a newly formed Gaza Executive Board tied to President Donald Trump’s post-war Gaza “Board of Peace” framework. The Prime Minister’s Office said: “The announcement regarding the composition of the Gaza Executive Board, operating under the Peace Conference, was made without coordination with Israel and runs counter to Israel’s policy.”
Netanyahu instructed Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar to take up the issue directly with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, according to the same statement. The dispute drew attention because the US and Israel usually coordinate closely on Gaza-related diplomatic initiatives, but Israel signaled the White House move crossed a line by proceeding without prior alignment.
The Gaza Executive Board is one of two bodies unveiled by the White House, and it is described as responsible for overseeing on-the-ground activity connected to a body of Palestinian technocrats. The board’s announced members include Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Qatari diplomat Ali Al-Thawadi, Egyptian intelligence chief Hassan Rashad, Emirati minister Reem Al-Hashimy, Israeli businessman Yakir Gabay, and former Dutch deputy prime minister Sigrid Kaag.
The separate “founding Executive Board” announced alongside it includes figures such as Rubio, former UK prime minister Tony Blair, World Bank President Ajay Banga, White House special envoy Steve Witkoff, and Jared Kushner, and is framed as handling higher-level investment and diplomacy connected to the plan. Reports also say some individuals—such as Witkoff, Kushner, Blair, and others—are positioned to sit on both bodies.
